Integrated Roots Introduces Policy to Standardize Haircare Education for Adoption and Foster Families

Let's talk about the 200 year old elephant in the room - haircare education for adoption and foster families. No matter who you are or where you come from haircare is a matter that we can all relate to on some level. If we don’t know of someone who’s ever been in need of haircare support we may recall a time where we have needed it ourselves. For families of adoption and foster care haircare can be downright critical. So what is stopping us from making this a priority? Is it money? Is it that nobody cares? Whose responsibility is haircare anyway? What are your thoughts?

Beauty isn’t just about trends and fads, for the children of adoption and foster care it's about health and safety too. Last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Senator Penry Gustafson of South Carolina to discuss this very issue and the opportunity that South Carolina has to spearhead change.

Shout out to all of the volunteers, friends & family, friends of friends, community organizations, salons and stylists that are committed to supporting families of foster and adoption with haircare services and education. You may not always receive credit for your labor but please know that your efforts are appreciated.
